"Find Out Why You Want to Bargain When You Travel in ForeignCountries!"
Source: articleage.com
Copyright 2006 John Navata
The, cheapest last minute airfares, reality of traveling is that it is quite expensive relative
to most people's incomes. Unless you're fairly well-off, you
won't be able to travel regularly throughout your life until you
master some discount travel techniques. The art of discount
travel is more then simply one quick trick, it is an overall
approach that you can, and should, apply to every element of
your trip. For example, you should explore charter flights and
last minute deals, etc. to get the cheapest possible airfare.
Once you arrive in a foreign country, you should meet some
locals and establish where the cheap places to eat and stay are.
Discount travel involves a lot of small things that when applied
together result in big savings, and allow even those on moderate
budgets to travel regularly and enjoyably.
An important concept to get used to if you want your money to
last while you are traveling in a foreign country is that of
bargaining. In most foreign countries, and especially those of
the second world, barging plays a big part in everyday life, and
you will find yourself continually overspending if you don't
participate in it.
Most North Americans are terrible at bargaining, which is not at
all their fault: bargaining simply does not play much of a role
in our everyday transactions, and except for large purchases
like buying a car, and maybe to a lesser extent a house, most of
us aren't used to it - we certainly aren't used to haggling over
small items.
The first thing to understand - and a great discount travel
technique - is that in the second world, everything is
negotiable, and usually very heavily negotiable. If you start to
bargaining, you'll soon see that the type of bargaining that
goes on in other parts of the world is very different from the
North American style: people often start with figures that are
double or more their desired amount.
The first step in bargaining is to not be in any kind of rush to
get in a taxi, or in a hotel room, or to purchase your item.
Take the time to ask around, and if you can, find some locals
who will (hopefully) give you an idea of a good price. The
second thing to keep in mind is you have to be willing to walk
away, or at least good at pretending that you're willing to walk
away. Oftentimes you'll find that by simply showing a lack of
interest and willingness to avoid the transaction the price will
be lowered, without any need for specific bargaining on your
part.
Once you get the hang of bargaining you'll find it rather easy,
and in some cases fun. The main thing to keep in mind when
you're in a foreign land is that your status as a North American
will usually label you as rich to locals, even if it doesn't
seem that way to you. If you don't want to get charged double -
or more - for every single thing you do while traveling you'll
have to get used to the idea of bargaining - a key component in
an overall strategy towards discount travel.

Bargaining Basics
Source: articlecity.com
Traveling often is expensive when compared to the average person's income, and unless someone is fairly well-off, traveling regularly throughout a lifetime, is not a possibility until they master some important discount travel techniques. Discount traveling is an overall approach to travel, not just a one quick trick method, and should apply to every element of a trip. For example, exploring charter flights and last minute deals, etc. could get someone the cheapest airfare. After arriving in a foreign country, meeting some locals and establishing where the cheap places to eat and stay are can really save money. Although it takes many small things, the pending result means that people can enjoy large savings, and allow themselves more travel opportunities, even on a restricting budget.
Bargaining is a key concept when the goal is to stretch money when traveling in a foreign country. In most second world countries, bargaining plays a major role in their day to day economy, and participating in this even will save people from continually overspending on their vacations.
North Americans are terrible at bargaining simply because it does not play a major role in our everyday economic transactions. Beyond large purchases, such as a car or a home, most North Americans are not used to bargaining, and certainly are not willing to, or used to, haggling over small items.
The first thing to understand is that everything in second world countries is negotiable, and usually items are very heavily negotiable. Once a traveler begins bargaining, it becomes very apparent that their style of bargaining is vastly different from the North American style because people often begin with amounts that are double, or more, what their actual desired amount is.
Step one in successful discount traveling bargaining is to avoid being in a rush. Avoid committing to a taxi, hotel room, or item purchase too quickly. Step two is to do some research through the locals and get an idea of places with decent prices. Be thorough, cheapest last minute airfares, and patient! Step three is to always appear willing to walk away from a transaction or at least show a lack of interest. Often times, this "lack of interest" will lower a price without any real haggling or bargaining.
With time and practice bargaining is rather easy, and in some cases extremely fun. The main thing to keep in mind when in a foreign country is that North Americans are usually labeled as wealthy to locals, even if it does not appear that way to the actual traveler. A key component in the overall strategy towards discount travel is bargaining, and unless travelers want to be charged double or triple for all activities, then they will want to master the technique sooner than later.

How Do You Find The Best Airfare Packages?
Source: articledashboard.com
Many problems arise when we plan a vacation and start searching for cheap airlines. Whether we search online or through local travel consolidators, success is not always guaranteed. Getting the best airfare deal depends on a lot of factors; timing and experience are just two of these factors. You will need to learn a few tips and tricks in order to find a really good package, if not the best. But even if you can't manage to find the cheapest airfare that you expected, flying on a special package and saving a few dollars will boast your spirits and you will try harder the next time you plan a vacation. Let's discuss some of the tips that will come handy when you are ready to buy your next airline ticket.
Remember that international airfares keep fluctuating between low and high depending upon the demand of a particular flight. You may want to delay your trip if the prices are too high and don't seem to come down in the near future. However, if you can't delay your flight then look out for other airlines in your area. Sometimes just out of competition airlines keep offering cheap and special airfare packages to their customers.
When you are looking for airfares online, make sure to compare them with other airline packages. Sometimes people just find a good attractive site listing a lot of features and services and immediately book seats with them. Try to find at least 2 or 3 good sites and then book with them. There are many websites out there that let you compare different airlines. The timings of the flights may differ but it doesn't really matter if you are not going on a business meeting and time is not crucial. Some websites also offer last-minute reservations that can be booked way in advance, like 2 weeks before the day of departure. But do keep in mind that airlines can change their rates anytime and any day without notice. Therefore, if possible wait for the departure day and then book seats some hours before the flight.
Many factors contribute in the pricing strategy of an airline. Keep track of these day-to-day changes, such as weather changes, some big political event, international sporting event, an increase in the fuel cost and so on. Flights get canceled and delayed all the time. Delayed flights are likely to have seats left over and airlines will try to sell those seats off at very low prices. Travel consolidators are also looking out for such chances. Always keep in touch with one of these consolidators or wholesalers, either online or offline. They will really help you out when the time of your departure comes near.
Last minute deals and other special packages are also offered to certain destination locations, national or international. When you start your search, don't forget to find these kinds of deals for the location you have in mind. Sometimes these deals let you save up to even 70% of your airfare. Courier travel is always an option if other opportunities are running thin. If you like traveling alone and have a lot of time on your hands then a good courier deal will save you a lot of money.
Don't waste time if you are not able to find anything good on the Internet. These days there is a lot of competition going on between online consolidator websites and therefore it's very unlikely that you won't be able to find a good deal once you are up there. Still if nothing satisfies you then contact your local travel consolidator and ask for help. You can delay your flight as well and provide your criteria to one of these websites. Whenever there's a match they will contact you immediately. Whatever you choose, make sure to double check the kind of deal you like on other websites. If possible ask your friends and colleagues if they have traveled on the same package and how did they find it. Remember that experiencing something yourself will be the best of teachers. Even if the last experience did not turn out to be a good one,, cheapest last minute airfares, use it as a guide for your next trip.

Advice On Finding Cheap Airfare
Source: articledashboard.com
There are many ways to find cheap airfares but sometimes you are not sure how to narrow down your choices and select the right deal. Cheap airfare can be found for different circumstances, such as peak holiday seasons, weekends and other ways like courier travel if you are traveling alone and want to explore newer cities. This article will provide you with some tips to find cheap airfare for the situation you are in.
The first way to find cheap airfare is to book on an already overbooked flight. If you have ample time on your hands, arrive at the airport at least 2 hours before the flight and get in the line. You can negotiate with the airline worker at desk for the urgency of your travel. Tell them that you want the next flight to your destination location. They will try to adjust you with the next flight with some vouchers for waiting for, cheapest last minute airfares, so long. Sometimes the vouchers also include getting a last-minute reservation discount offer. Of course this kind of tactic can only be applied if you are traveling alone. Taking a whole family with you won't look that much suitable and you might also end up coming back to wait for a flight many hours ahead. So be careful before trying this out. Sometimes you can also manage to get free flights if you are lucky enough and have a lot of patience. But if you are determined to fly cheap, then time and other things will not be a hurdle for you.
The second tactic is to look for special offers made by certain airlines on their websites. You might not be able to benefit from these offers if you buy your ticket directly from the airport. Sometimes these discount offers are meant for the promotion of a website or online airfare business, but whatever the reason don't forget to at least check out some of these websites for the special deals and packages they have to offer. These packages include last-minute reservations and hotel and car packages etc. Remember that these offers are for limited time only, so if you come across a package that suits your needs don't hesitate to buy it right away.
Sometimes choosing a multi-stop flight has a major advantage on choosing a direct flight. You might find it difficult to change airports or flights, but this has proven to be a very useful way of finding cheap airfares. Try to book a seat for the nearest location to your destination and after arriving there ask for a last-minute reservation. This way you will be able to save a lot of dollars. Also try to book on weekdays instead of weekends. Exploring online will give you an insight into how airlines determine their airfare rates for peak seasons and peak times. Sometimes when they are trying to sell out all tickets of a flight, they offer the last seats at very low prices just to have them sold off. You can get in contact with a consolidator and he will contact you back whenever a cheap flight is available that matches your flight schedule.
These and other tips help you in finding the cheapest flight possible. So don't waste time, start exploring now and save a lot of money in the long run.

When Is The Best Time To Visit Cancun?
Source: isnare.com
Cancun is a very popular vacation desination for all ages. Most would define traveling off-peak as "traveling outside rush-hours to avoid overcrowding in public means of transport." This sounds all too simple and as we might expect - easier said than done. If you love to be around other tourist than I recommend any time of the year to visit Mexico.
By traveling off-peak, not only will you get cheaper flights and accommodations. You will also gain a difference perspective on travel - especially the added advantage of enjoying your dream destinations without huddling with the masses of tourists during holidays.
And did you know that traveling off-peak means traveling during holidays (not before or after) when airfares are lower and there's less road traffic?
Best Times To Travel
For both air and car travel, avoid the crowds by traveling during the week, especially from Tuesday through Thursday. An added bonus is that airfares for travel Tuesday through Thursday are usually cheaper.
Mid-morning and late afternoon flights tend to be less crowded, plus you can really avoid commute traffic, cheapest last minute airfares, during this time. This site also offers the load on late-night flights (also known as red-eye flights for obvious reasons): these flights can help you avoid traffic but it's only effective if you can sleep sitting up-right on a plane!
Some of the most affordable Cancun travel deals of the year can be found in the fall. If you happen to find nonresistable super offer during off-peak dates that fall between major holidays, don't waste time. Book immediately with your discount travel agent. Never hesitate!
Traveling off-peak to Cancun during the North American winter months rather than during summer is very popular. You might say what's the point in going to Mexico in winter when you're going there to savor the beaches? But the fact is, there is hardly such a thing as winter in the Mexico as it stays warm most of the year. In fact, it's not a good idea to fly there during the peak season (I.e., summer months) as this is the period when the hurricanes usually come.
It also helps to subscribe to online newsletters of discount air travel agents such as Travelocity or Expedia. By having yourself included in these companies' mailing list, you can get your hands on off-peak travel promotions faster than those who didn't. So you see, it's not just the air miles!
Finally, book your flight early to secure the most gains from traveling off-peak. One year's planning can certainly help you reap the reward of the cheapest airfares possible! On the other hand, booking last minute can also have its rewards. If you're the kind who can leave at a moment's notice, you can save a lot from last-minute flights and accommodations. After all, most airlines and hotels would rather greatly discount their seats and rooms than leave them empty!

The Key To Traveling On A Budget
Source: isnare.com
People often have the misconception that they should not travel when they are on a tight budget. In reality, many smart travelers travel to distant destinations on a budget and they are able to do it regularly. When you travel on a budget and know all the tricks to doing so successfully, the experience can be quite rewarding knowing that you've saved yourself the money that you could save for your next budget trip.
Traveling on a budget can be considered as a form of art that requires more than bargaining. One of the ways to begin planning for a wallet-friendly trip is to check out last minute deals on the internet. In this day and age, the internet shopping has become so common for everything ranging from fresh-cut flowers to designer purses to cars. Needless to say, just like shopping at the local department store, it requires some bargain hunting to some degree. Websites such as www.dealenvy.com offers great bargains for everyday items that I always seem to have a need for. Same goes for shopping for the cheapest deal online for airfare. There are countless travel websites that you can do price comparisons for. Next, is to find out from foreign locals where the cheapest lodgings and eateries are. The dollars and pennies saved from this surely will add up to big savings and a fuller wallet. While traveling to certain countries, such as countries in Asia, learn the art of bargaining with vendors! Even locals bargain on an everyday basis so why not try? Small souvenirs, snacks, anything can be bargained for at some places! In America, bargaining is usually found in places such as Chinatown or local swap meets, but it is not typically an everyday interaction.
Bargain travelers need to understand that in some countries, everything, even the most minuscule thing, can be negotiable. One trick to bargaining successfully is to pretend to walk away! This may, cheapest last minute airfares, be difficult at first but pretend! More so than not, the vendor will give in and the price will be lowered to your desired amount. Some people even find bargaining a fun interaction between them and the vendors. It does not hurt to give it a try it because you have nothing to lose!

9 Tips On How To Go To Disney World On A Shoestring Budget
Source: isnare.com
What you are about to read will save you loads of money !
Many families get quite a shock when they calculate what it will cost them to have a Walt Disney World holiday.
You'll need flights, accommodation, car hire/driving costs, food, passes to Walt Disney World (they are expensive - children are classed as ages 3-9 years old and costs not much less than adult prices), entertainment, and more...
I am going to show you how to have a budget-wise Disney holiday.
Tip # 1. Do it Yourself
Book your Disney World vacation online.
You will find the cheapest rates by booking each component separately yourself - air, accommodation, car hire and even theme park tickets.
You can book way in advance and still get the same savings as if you had booked last minute. The difference is that booking last minute can cause you stress. So Relax !
Take your own food and drink. If you're taking a charter flight, you can pay far more than you want to pay for in-flight food and drinks. You might not even enjoy it.
Tip # 2. Rent an Orlando Villa directly from the owner.
Stay in a privately owned villa or vacation rental home within 20 minutes drive of Walt Disney World.
People in Europe have been holidaying in private villas for years. Many Europeans and North, cheapest last minute airfares, Americans now own villas in Orlando all within 20 minutes drive of Disney.
These privately owned homes belong to families just like yourselves. Because these families vacation in their homes as well, they are fully equipped with everything that you could hope for.
The price you pay is where the bargain comes in if you book directly from the owner of the property. Vacation homes near Disney can start from as little as $79 to less than $160 per night for a whole family sized house. Price often depends on the season and quality, level of privacy and amenities of the villa that you want.
Your whole family could have room to themselves instead of cramming together in the same hotel bedroom.
Plus, you can have lounge, private pool, spa, game room, full kitchens and much more than I can mention here.
To make your holiday even cheaper, split the cost of your villa with another family.
Orlando has many huge villas that can sleep 2-3 families. Many have multiple master bedrooms. So each family can have a master bedroom and extra bedrooms for the rest of the family. They also have multiple bathrooms and multiple living/dining areas.
So if you don't mind sharing with friends or family you could save even more money on accommodation.
Sign up for newsletters on Orlando vacation rentals websites. That way you can keep abreast of special deals available.
Look out for last minute deals from private villa owners.
Once you rent a private villa you won't want to ever use a hotel again.
Tip # 3. Go Off Season
Prices plummet when the kids are back at school ! You save more than 50% on flights, and at low season, Orlando vacation rentals are much cheaper.
Flights:
You would be amazed how much you can save in airline tickets if you go low season, especially if your family is large.
Sign up to newsletters with your favourite airlines to hear about the best flight deals first.
Seize the specials by looking out for bargain flight offers in good time.
Many websites specialise in finding air fare deals. Use farefinders. These are websites that search for cheap airfares.
Look out for newspapers that offer flight discounts that involve collecting tokens. Some have 'buy one get on free deals' on flights at specific times of the year.
Don't fly at weekends if there are surcharges.
But, who wants to go to Walt Disney World when kids are Back at school ?
If you are a bargain hunting holiday-maker, you might consider it if you realise the savings you could have.
Tip # 4. Spend Less on Your Family's Food
Food is expensive in the theme parks without a doubt.
You can eat meals in your Florida Villa and save money. You get a fully equipped full-size kitchen. You don't have to cook. You can fill the refrigerator with food from the Supermarket.
Bring snacks and drinks with you from your villa, to the Disney Parks, especially on hot and humid days when your kids need to drink lots of liquids all day long. Freeze drinks in a drinks cooler and take them with you frozen.
You and your family can return to your villa for lunch and a rest and go back to the Theme Parks refreshed and fed.
If you drive from home to your holiday villa, shop before you go. Bring your favourite items from home.
Have breakfast at restaurants that allow kids to eat free. They advertise this in their windows.
Look out for restaurants offering free kid's meals.
Pick up money saving booklets from the local Supermarket. They are loaded with money saving coupons.
Look out for coupons that save you money at full service restaurants as well as your fast food chains like McDonalds.
You can find some good deals at Walt Disney World if you choose carefully. A family of four can easily spend $50 for little more than a snack.
A better option is for you to splash out once or twice in the Disney World 'Parks on the 'all you can eat character meals' or on 'fun themed restaurants'. This can make your
holiday even more memorable and make for good photo opportunities.
Popular buffet restaurants with fairly good prices include character breakfast at Cinderella's Royal Table, and the Polynesian Resort's dinners where food is cooked at a firepit, games are played with the kids, and food is brought to your table time and time again. 5 Tips for Finding Travel Deals Online
Source: articlerich.com
There are a massive amount of travel deals to sift through online so finding the best bargains can be an overwhelming task. Here are 5 tips that will help you make the most of the time you spend searching for deals online.
1. Be Flexible
It is essential to be flexible about your travel plans if you want to increase the odds of landing the best deals. Whether that means flying on a different airline, departing from a different airport than usual, or being open to changing your travel time or date, flexibility will make a big difference in savings. The cheapest airfares usually require a Saturday-night stay and many last-minute airfares are posted on the internet on Wednesdays. You can also save a lot more money if you travel early in the morning or late, cheapest last minute airfares, at night when airports are less congested.
2. Be Aware of Restrictions and Hidden Fees
If a deal sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Find out if there are any strings attached before you purchase a travel package or flight ticket. For example, many airfare deal listings do not include taxes, which could raise the price as much as 50%. Some important questions you may want to ask before purchasing flight tickets is whether taxes are include, how much the fees are, and if it would be possible to change your ticket if necessary. Many people don't realize that it can cost $7 to $30 extra to purchase flight tickets online. E-tickets make it easier to check in because all you need to do is provide your confirmation number and picture ID. However, you have to pay a little extra for that convenience.
3. Travel During Shoulder Season
Shoulder season is the two to four week period before or after peak travel season. You can still enjoy the great weather and other perks that make a destination popular during peak season without dealing with the high prices and crowds that are associated with it. Hotel rates and car rental rates are substantially lower during shoulder season. By traveling during shoulder season, you can save 25% to 35% on travel.
4. Make Your Travel Plans Far in Advance
There are plenty of great last-minute bargains to be had but some people's travel plans just aren't flexible enough for them to just take whatever deals they manage to get at the last moment. If you are traveling during peak season, make sure to make your travel plans far in advance because waiting until the last moment can cost you a lot of money. Typically, domestic flight prices start going up 21 days prior to the date of departure so try to purchase your tickets before then. If you are traveling internationally, buy your tickets at least three to six months in advance.
5. Subscribe to Last-Minute Alerts on Travel Deals
You can be one of the first people to get access to great bargains if you subscribe to alerts on a website that publishes a steady flow of deals on travel. There are online travel portals that publish deals from a variety of different sources so you can comparison shop without having to visit many different websites.
Discover and share great travel deals on BestTravelDeals.net. Free to share and free to submit travel deals. Some recent deals include airfare from $9, $29 and $39.

Everyone wants to save money when they're booking flights for their upcoming trip. Here are several ways to find cheap airfare that you might not have considered.
Often the best seats and the best discounts are given to those who book their flights months or weeks in advance. But sometimes it is not possible to book a flight in advance, because a trip may be last minute. When that is the case, you have to get a little more creative to get discounted tickets at good rates.
There are several ways to get around the high cost of flying and take advantage of discounted tickets.Sometimes taking a flight during the week can save you a quite a bit of money.Tuesday and Wednesday are often the cheapest days to book a flight.Weekend days can also be cheaper, such as Saturdays, depending, cheapest last minute airfares, on your destination.International and domestic flights vary as to which days are less expensive, so ask about the cheapest days to fly on when you call about booking your flight.
Many people realize that airfare may be cheaper on certain days of the week, or during different times of year, depending on the destination. But many people don't realize how important the time of day can be.The time of your flight can make a large difference in the amount of money that you pay for your plane ticket.
In most cases, only the day of the trip is important to the traveler.Vacations can often be scheduled around the cheapest flights available.Business people typically travel the day before rather than the day of a business meeting.Taking the time of your flight into consideration can save you a lot of money on your plane tickets without causing you any frustration or scheduling issues.
Some of the cheapest flights are in the late night and early morning hours, between midnight and four oclock in the morning on what are called red-eye flights. Most people are sleeping during these times, and do not want to take a flight in the middle of the night. You can usually find cheap or discounted flights during these off peak travel times. The best rule of thumb is to find the latest flight available, or the earliest flight available. These flights will have the cheapest airfare..
If your vacation itinerary is not dependent on arrival time or you are crossing several time zones, take a late night flight and arrive during the day when checking into a hotel will be much easier. If your business meeting isnt until the afternoon, take an early morning flight, and take a short nap at the hotel to freshen up before the meeting. In most cases, late night or early morning flights will not interfere with your plans.
Remember that to find the cheapest airfare, you may need to fly on off peak days, or off peak times. Be creative, and enjoy cheap airfare.
Cheap Airl Tickets - Flying On A Shoestring
Source: isnare.com
1. If you fly frequently, consider joining a frequent flyer program.
Frequent flyer programs can offer long-term discounts, so don't always buy the cheapest ticket. Once you factor in the free tickets that you eventually qualify for, you could end up saving money. This is an especially good strategy for those who often fly overseas - how many trips to Singapore would it take to accumulate enough frequent flyer miles to get a free domestic ticket?
2. Check the airlines' own websites
Don't restrict yourself to the major airlines. Some regional and national carriers offer cheap airfare. China, cheapest last minute airfares, Airlines, for example, might offer cut-rate airfare to Beijing.
3. Check the online travel agencies
Expedia and Orbitz are among the most popular. Travel agents purchase air tickets at a discount by buying in bulk from the airlines, so they can often offer you cheaper rates than the airlines.
4. Be flexible.
Cheap airfares are often available only on certain days and require you to stay a certain minimum time.
5. Try the small agents in ethnic enclaves.
If you live in a big city and want a ticket to Japan, for example, go to Little Tokyo and check out the small agencies. If you want to go to Rome, check out Little Italy. I have purchased round trip tickets from Los Angeles to Tokyo for as little as US$500.
6. Book in advance.
Tickets booked in advance are normally cheaper than last minute purchases.
7. Buy from an air courier service.
Air courier services are companies that buy your luggage allowance in exchange for discounted tickets. Although they are the cheapest tickets available, they are usually reserved for international travel. Please note, however, that you may only bring carry-on luggage.
8. Become a student.
An International Student ID Card will get you lots of places cheap.
9. Offer to pay your way aboard an unregistered cargo plane by cleaning toilets and mopping the deck (bring along a parachute and you can stop anywhere you like - for the very adventurous only!).

To find cheap lodging you will need information about how to save costs. Sources for information are all over and range from your local library to online websites. A good suggestion is to take a trip to your local library where you will have access to a lot of magazine and paper based information as well as a computer with internet access. Most libraries have computers with access, if yours does not then simply use a friend's computer or take a trip to the local internet caf้ and spend some time surfing the web for information. Some common sources for low cost or special hotel lodging may be found right in your own home.
First you might want to take a look inside your wallet or records and see what memberships you already belong to and which might offer discount or cheap lodging. As with all other plans waiting till the last minute will cost you so be sure to plan ahead and start your inquiries well before your vacation.
Your local news paper, Sunday paper, or magazines in your home may have advertisements for holiday lodging accommodations or booking deals on reservations.
Search through and cut out advertisements, coupons, or information that can help you find the best prices.

How to Find The Best Cruise Deal
Source: free-articles
Federal Way, WA May 17, 2004--Sometimes cruise and travel agencies will promote a specific cruise line because they make greater commissions; therefore, for the consumer, it does help to know what cruise line one wants to sail on before purchasing the ticket. Each cruise line offers a little different variety; however, if one is looking for the best cruise deal, follow the suggestions outlined and the consumer can save some big dollars.
Cruise fares vary from agency to agency. The fares also vary depending when one plans on cruising. For example, the peak season fares, summers, are much higher than off-season, spring and fall. The cruise lines differ in fares too. And of course, the planned route, accommodations aboard ship, all have an impact on the cruise fare.
Type of Cruise...It's become very popular to include a land tour with a cruise. For example, departing out of Seattle on an Alaskan Cruise, the ship will cruise up the Inside Passage following the Gold Rush Voyage. Passengers depart the vessel for a land tour to Anchorage and Denali National Park. This type of cruise is more expensive than the traditional cruises and the ports of call will vary on the Alaska coast. Check out www.cruisewest.com to get some great insights into this type of cruising.
If one prefers the more traditional route of cruising there's the choice of: Holland America, Norwegian Cruise Line, Princess Cruises, Royal Caribbean, Carnival and Celebrity Cruises. Norwegian Cruise Lines, for the most part, will yield a better savings for the best cruise deal. However, it's still important to check the other cruise lines too, they sometimes offer specials.
Places to Shop For The Best Cruise Deal... To begin the search, one may want to first visit www.VacationsToGo.com. This is a good place to start and get an overview of what's available; cruising dates, departure ports, ports of call, types of ships and costs. It's a great site to use as a tool for price comparisons. Another reference to check out is www.itakeatrip.com.
Pay a quick visit to one of the big Internet sites, www.Orbitz.com. Orbitz gets their cruises from the largest provider of cruises in North America, National Leisure Group.
We've found wwwBestfares.com a good source too, sometimes offering the best value. It's a membership-based agency; however, one can call the cruise agency that Bestfares uses directly at 1-800-777-0707. Speak with anyone there, or ask for Edwin at extension 82285. He'll provide everything needed, costs, etc., and at NO Pressure.
Check the local Sunday Newspaper too, the Travel Section. Often there are hidden bargains offered by local agencies. If one resides in a small town, get the nearest major city Sunday Newspaper.
Uncover The Hidden Costs...Don't be mis-lead with advertised specials such as โCheap Alaska Cruises, $599!โ Often these advertisements are for off-season cruising, spring and fall. And they probably do not include the Port Fees and Taxes. Port Fees and Taxes can run into a couple hundred dollars for each passenger. Just be aware.
The costs of cabins vary too. An inside cabin, without a window is by far the cheapest. When we cruise, we only use the cabin to change and sleep; therefore, it doesn't make sense for us to pay more money for a window if we aren't going to use it. If we want to see a view, we go to the upper deck; however, if one plans on staying in the cabin, then consider getting a window.
Cabin rates are typically based on a 2-person occupancy. In other words, the first 2-people in a cabin will pay the full-fare, additional people will pay 1/2 the fare. If the Cruise Deal is $750 then 2-people will pay that fare or $1500. If there's 2-additional-people to the cabin, they will pay $375 each or $750 for the both. The total fare equals $2250 for 4-people in one cabin. Now, don't forget to add the Port Fees and Taxes per person. If the Port Fee is $200 per person and Taxes are $50 per person then the total Cruise Deal for 4-people equals $3250. Make sure quotes include port fees and taxes.
Typically, the first 2-people in a cabin will pay the same rate. (In our example above each person pays $750 or $1500 for both). Beware, agencies or even group tours will charge the 3rd and 4th-person the same $750 fare. Be sure to ask about this.
The 3rd and 4th-persons usually receive a great discount just like our above example. Be sure to ask and don't be afraid to ask for a discount for the 2nd-person in the cabin too. It pays to ask.
Cruise Insurance...When the cruise is booked one is asked if they want cruise insurance. The insurance policy will typically insure incase one defaults on the cruise. In other words, if for some reason one cannot go on the cruise, the money is refunded. How much does it cost and how much money is refunded? That depends on the policy. We suggest that you DO NOT take a policy from the cruise agency. Get the policy from an Insurance Agency, not a Cruise Agency. Check out www.tripinsurancestore.com, one can get a comparative quote.
We recommend that everyone take a look at some travel insurance, especially for a cruise. Get a policy that covers all aspects of your trip, including medical. Check them out; it's worth the time. In fact, check out cruise insurance before the cruise is booked.
Last Minute Cruise DealsโฆWe've found agencies that specialize in last minute cruises have nothing more to add than the other cruise agencies. Cruises are based on supply and demand. If a ship has many vacant cabins the rates go down, sometimes one can find advertised deals, โPurchase One Ticket and get the 2nd for Halfโ or sometimes even for FREE. This advertisement can run up to departure time.
On the other hand, sometimes ships get booked well in advance. If it's a popular cruise it's best to book ahead to get the best cruise deal. If one books at the last minute, and there's still room, one will pay the market rate.
Group Travel...Traveling as a group may yield some good bargains, especially for the group leader, therefore, if one likes group travel consider becoming a group leader. Check with some of the local travel agencies and see if they know of any available cruise groups. Check out the Group Tour Specialist, Alan Schiller. 425-775-1595, 1-800-622-3342. He's put together some fabulous group specials to Alaska and beyond. Get on their mailing list and get the continual updates.
If one wants to really expand on getting the best cruise deal, start a group cruise. All one needs is to get some friends together for a cruise, become the designated group leader, and Cruise for FREE. The group leader will typically have to fill 8-cabins or 16-people before the cruise is for free.
Where can one get a group? This is where creativity comes in. Check out the local Senior Center and find out the level of interest. They may even have a group tour already that one can join. Check out the on-line travel forums too. All of this does require a little effort; after-all, getting a FREE Cruise does require some effort.
In Summary...It pays to shop around to get the Best Cruise Deal. Unfortunately there's no one single source that offers the absolute Best Deal. If one checks out the agencies we listed above, money and time can be saved. Also note, several agencies use the same source. For example, Sterling, cheapest last minute airfares, Cruises, Cruise Rewards, Ideas 4 Travel are all the same company, National Leisure Group. And they market through a host of other agencies, like Orbitz. Therefore, as one shops they'll find the same website format with a different name.

International Air Travel: Make It Enjoyable and Hassle Free - Part I
Source: articleage.com
International travel, cheapest last minute airfares, is an expensive and time-consuming exercise. Many of us go on international trips either for business or work related trips, to visit families, for studies in foreign countries or just for a vacation. Here are some tips to make this travel pleasant and easy on you and your pockets.
Planning your trip:
Plan your trip well in advance, if possible. This presents you an opportunity to get better air ticket deals. Airfares for international travels are seasonal. There are three main seasons: Low, Shoulder and Peak. Traveling in peak season is always the most expensive. If your trip is not time bound, plan to travel in the low season to get cheapest and low airfares. For travel in peak season, shop for deals well in advance. This assures you good price, your choice of airlines and your choice of dates. If possible, keep the travel dates flexible, as that would help you in getting lower fares. There is a notion that you can get cheap air tickets if you wait till the last minute. This is not necessarily true and during the peak season, you may run the risk of not getting a seat on any airlines at all.
There are many ways on how you can save money. Many airlines have different fares for weekday and weekend travel. If you are planning to break your journey midway, some airlines offer free stopovers while others charge a fee. Sometimes, direct / non-stop flights are expensive than the ones with one or more stops. Less known airlines can offer hard to resist deals. You can either call individual airlines to get their air fares and then compare or search on travel websites, which offer online booking facilities. While calling individual airlines can be a time consuming and tedious process, online booking sites may not be the right option if you have a few twists in your trip. And both these options may not give you access to the promotional and discount fares. The best bet will be to call a travel agent and let them do the job for you.
Travel agents are a good source to get great deals. They can help you in finding deals with more than one airline and can offer tickets for discounted prices. They have access to almost all airlines and have the expertise to search for the cheapest tickets in the market. Travel agents are a great source of information. Do not hesitate to ask them questions. They can provide valuable tips on how you can save money. Travel agents deal with more than one traveler at a time and hence may not be able to give you the details in the first call. Give them your trip details and give them some time and they can come up with really good deals for you. Travel agents are easy to spot as many of them have websites. A travel agency with excellent customer service is an asset. Some travel sites like http://www.TravelWorldServices, http://www.LowfareAlways.com, etc. offer personalized over-the-phone services on travel to various destinations across the world.
There are several travel agencies around the world. However, it is important that you choose the right travel agency, which offers the best customer service at the cost of a few additional dollars. This is better than booking the ticket online or offline through a travel agency who may offer really cheap deal but may end up not delivering you the ticket or not confirming your seats.
So the first step to planning your next international trip is to get yourself a really good travel agent.

Find Out How You Could Find Low Airfares
Source: articleage.com
Copyright 2006 John Navata
Unless you are planning a short domestic trip, the cost of
airfare is usually a deciding factor in an overseas trip. Most
people with moderate incomes simply can't afford to fly
regularly, as much as they would like to. There are, however,
some people out there who are flying all the time on regular
incomes. The secret to achieving this is a willingness to be
flexible and shop around with airfares, as well as employing
some tried and true discount travel techniques.
The key to getting a cheap flight is to shop around, and the
internet makes this easy for almost anyone to do. There are a
plethora of websites that will conduct searches around the world
for cheap airfares. Although the internet is a valuable tool in
discovering cheap airfares, it's important that you don't rely
on it entirely. Many sites claim they are searching "all
flights" for the cheapest possible fare, but you really don't
have any way of knowing what they do and don't have access to.
Oftentimes the cheapest flights can come from the airlines
themselves, and you'd be well advised to check their sites as
well in your search.
No matter how much research you do online, you should always
visit some travel agents. Keep in mind, cheapest last minute airfares, that these people make
their livings selling airfares, and will often have access to
deals that aren't available to you online. Think of it this way:
if you really could always get the cheapest flight online,
travel agents would be out of business. The fact that they are
not suggests that good deals are to found the old fashioned way:
by visiting the office of a travel agent.
When looking for discount travel, you should also explore
non-traditional methods of finding flights. Websites like
priceline.com offer reverse auction systems, that is: you place
a bid of what you're willing to pay on a given route on a given
date, and if it turns out that an airline is willing to release
a seat for that price, your credit card is billed an a ticket is
issued.
Another good avenue to explore is "bucket shops" - companies who
buy bulk tickets from airlines at a heavy discount. They don't
have the choice that travel agent has, of course, but if you're
flexible you can often get a good deal. A typical bucket shop
system will work as follows: you give them a week-long window
during which you'd like to fly and some destination choices, and
then if something comes up at the last minute you can have it at
a heavy discount.
Another rarely explored discount travel technique is to look
into bucket shops and travel agents located in ethnic
neighborhoods. Often, foreign airlines sell discounted tickets
to these shops, which in turn serve an ethnic community
regularly traveling to their home country. These shops have
access to tickets from airlines that often aren't available at
your regular travel agent, and can offer a significant savings.
The important thing to remember in terms of discount travel is
to explore as many avenues as you can. The more flexible you are
willing to be, the cheaper your fare is likely to be - but even
if you're stuck with rigid dates, a compressive search will
often result in airfares that are significantly lower than those
commonly advertised.
